Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is our primary focus at the Integrated Center for Oriental Medicine, but at times we may combine some of the following acupuncture techniques to maximize results.

Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture is a micromeridian system of acupuncture points that use approximately 200 points in the ear. The concept was first identified in ancient China but was developed by Dr. Nozier of France. This system is used worldwide. It is used quite often for addictions, pain management and overall calming.

Zhu Scalp Acupuncture was developed by Prof. Ming Qing Zhu, L.Ac. This is the method of choice for treating stroke, neurological problems, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and postsurgical pain syndromes.

Koryo (Korean) Hand Therapy (KHT) is a unique micromeridian system. Hand points were known in ancient China, but it wasn't until Dr. Tae Woo Yoo of South Korea discovered a whole system of points. Based on the theory of meridians it is highly effective in treating pain problems.

Ah Shi Points are acupuncture points on the body that become spontaneously sore. Thought to be connected to the primary meridian system these points are highly effective in treating muscular pain problems. Similar to Trigger Points developed by Dr. Janet Travell.

Acupressure is used as an alternative to acupuncture for infants and children. Quite effective when applied to the auricular, KHT, Ah Shi and scalp points.

Massage Therapy is recognized as an effective means of relieving muscular pain and enhancing optimal health. Used in conjunction with acupuncture, it gives the patient a deep sense of muscular relaxation. Often recommended by physicians, it is a good way to speed up the healing process from muscular injuries. Our massage therapist works in conjunction with the acupuncturists to facilitate the healing process.

Qi Gong (Chi Gong) is a system of breathing and physical exercise that is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Used in a clinical setting to enhance the effectiveness of the acupuncture treatment. Many patients experience a profoundly deep feeling of relaxation and pain relief with Qi Gong during their visit to the clinic. As an exercise it helps to strengthen the body. Qi Gong is a great routine for building strength after surgery. Classes are available through our clinic.

Taiji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan) is a system of physical exercises dating back to the 1300s that is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The underlying principles of Taiji Quan and the underlying principles of acupuncture are the same. Numerous studies done on Taiji Quan have shown the efficacy of this slow graceful art. It is the perfect exercise for anyone of any age. Classes are available through our clinic.

Biocranial Therapy was developed by John E. Upledger. It is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological system called the craniosacral system, which is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord.

Nampudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) Developed by Dr. Devi Nampudripad, it is a system of utilizing Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture points to help the body desensitize itself to specific allergens. When used correctly it is highly effective in treating both food and environmental allergies. More information can be found at www.naet.com

Neuroemotional Technique (NET) Developed by Dr. Scott Walker, it is a system of utilizing Chinese pulse diagnosis and acupuncture points to isolate physical problems and correcting them. More information can be found at www.netmindbody.com

Loomis Enzyme Therapy Developed by Dr. Loomis, it is a system of utilizing natural digestive enzymes to treat a wide range of internal problems. This is a highly effective protocol especially for our modern high stressed environment. More information can be found at www.loomisenzymes.com

Chinese acupuncturists discovered that certain facial conditions such as Bell's Palsy and shingles could be successfully treated with acupuncture. In the process of using facial acupuncture points it was noticed that the skin on the afflicted side became firmer and less drawn. The little lines next to the eyes became less visible and there was a significant overall improvement in appearance. These and other acupuncture points are now used to give a more youthful appearance. The results can be readily seen and can be quite dramatic depending on the condition and age of the skin. There is little or minimal discomfort from the needles and all treatments are performed by licensed acupuncturists with years of experience.
