Your First Visit To The Clinic
Appointments at the clinic are usually set on the hour or the half hour. The first visit is normally a one hour visit. This will give you and us plenty of time to discuss your problem and do a treatment. Before we initially see you there are intake forms to be filled out by you. This will take from ten to fifteen minutes to complete. To insure that you have plenty of time for your one hour appointment please arrive fifteen minutes early to fill out the paperwork. If you are unsure as how to get to the clinic please review the directions page of this web site. We do our best not to run late for your appointment. Your time is as valuable as our time.
After you have filled out the paperwork the receptionist will put your medical history folder together and show you to the examine room. If you need to use the restroom it would be appropriate at this time.
The initial visit is a question and answer time. It is your opportunity to ask us questions about what we do, and it is a time for us to ask you questions relevant to your health care concerns. All information that you give is confidential. It is in your best interest to share with us as much as you can. During this time we will do an Oriental medicine examination which is basically subjective information from you, objective things that we find, assessment of the problem, and the procedure we will be doing. This will all be explained to you at this time. You will be evaluated taking into consideration all aspects of your physical, mental and emotional health. When one aspect is affected the rest of us is also affected. It is important for us to obtain a complete picture of you as much as possible so that we may tailor your treatment to you in order to bring you back to health in the most effective and complete way. The way we practice takes into consideration you as a whole person.
During this hour we normally will do an acupuncture treatment or other protocol. It could be simply nothing more than providing you with Chinese herbal formulations for the problem.
Usually a follow up visit is set up for us to monitor your progress. The majority of our patients come to us for chronic conditions that have not been resolved elsewhere. The patient usually did not acquire the problem overnight. It is not possible for us to get rid of it overnight.
Follow Up Visits
Follow up visits are usually set for a half hour visit. During this period we will inquire about your progress and answer any of your questions. From our experience those patients that have the most questions usually help us to identify what the problem is and how to treat it effectively. Ask questions. We will do a treatment at this time.
