Iva Lim Peck is an award-winning acupuncturist in Plano, TX.

After completing high school in Malaysia, Iva moved to England where she received her RN at Nottingham University of Nursing in 1973, and completed a one year post graduate program in midwifery to become a State Certified Midwife (SCM) in 1975. After that she did her post graduate psychiatric nursing at Charing Cross Hospital in London. She received her ITEC and CIDESCO in aesthetics in UK after her training with Peggy Slight, a renowned aesthetician, instructor, and author of many beauty magazines in UK and was the English editor for the Les Nouvelles Esthetiques in Europe. Iva also studied with Arnold Taylor, Jean Worth and Eve Taylor, noted UK aestheticians in the mid 70’s.

Iva then went to Taipei, Taiwan, and did extensive study in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) under Dr. Tsao Cheng Chang, a renowned TCM physician and calligrapher. She also studied with other well recognized TCM physicians such as Chen Yi Kwei, Huang Min Der, Li Yun Fei, Tung Po Shen, Wei Chang Dan, and Chung Jia. She was a member of the Chinese Acupuncture Science Research Foundation (CARF) and did her internship at the Acupuncture Research Center of Tri-Service Military Hospital in Taipei.During the four years in Taiwan, Iva also studied Chinese brush painting, feng shui and Chinese internal martial arts. She began her life-long study and dedication in Chinese internal martial arts under Grandmaster Lu Hung Bin. Iva practices Taiji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan), Ba Gua Zhang, Xing Yi Quan, swords, staff, deer horn knives, plum blossom fan, qi gong, tui shou (pushing hands) and Taoist meditation. She has also studied with Madam Wang Ju Rong. Iva has won several awards over the years. She teaches the various forms of internal martial arts and has judged at both state and national tournaments.

She was instrumental in the passage of acupuncture licensure in the state of Texas in the early 1990’s, and tirelessly campaigned for a co-existence of Oriental medicine and Western medicine. She was a board member of the American Association of Oriental Medicine (AAOM) and Vice-President of the Texas Acupuncture Association (TAA). She served as a commissioner to the National Accreditation Commission for the Schools and Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NASCAOM), now the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). Iva is a Clinical Associate, faculty member, co-chair of the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Committee, and an education committee member of the American Academy of Pain Management. Iva is licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners to practice acupuncture as well as Nationally Board Certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Iva was awarded the “Acupuncturist of the Year Award “in 1996 by the American Association of Oriental Medicine. In 1997, she was awarded the “Founders of Texas Acupuncture Award” by the Texas Acupuncture Association. She has received “The Continuation Education Excellence Award” by the American Academy of Pain Management for 10 consecutive years. She was a co-recipient of the 2004 “Janet Travell Clinical Pain Management Award” by the American Academy of Pain Management.Clinically, Iva specializes in the integration of the unique qualities and strengths of diverse techniques that include Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, Chinese herbology, auricular acupuncture, Korean hand therapy (KHT), Richard Tan’s Technique, Pranic Healing and Zhu’s scalp acupuncture. Iva is a strong advocate for balancing treatment skills with in-depth consultations with her patients’ dietary habits, nutrition, exercises and individual life styles. In addition, Iva has extensive experience and is certified in several advanced techniques including: Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET), Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), Jeffe-Mellor Technique (JMT), NeuroModulation Technique (NMT), BioCranial Technique (BCT), and Loomis Enzyme and Nutritional Therapy (LDHS). She also completed two years of classical homeopathy study with Dr. Paul Herscu at the New England School of Homeopathy.

Iva advocates the integration of Eastern and Western medicines by utilizing her unique combination of knowledge and training. Her general practice takes care of pain problems, male and female disorders, allergies and asthma, digestive disorders, skin disorders, neurological and stress related problems. In 1995, her clinic received the accreditation as a single modality pain management facility by the American Academy of Pain Management.

Iva is a frequent guest speaker at various medical support groups, professional and social groups. She participated in continuing education workshops for nurses in topics related to Oriental medicine and Chinese martial arts. Iva was featured in a number of local and national newspaper and magazines over the years. She was interviewed on Fox 4 News in 1998, for a successful story on a child whose asthma she took care of with NAET. In 2003, she was on NBC News to discuss the efficacy and use of acupuncture for face lifting. She has been interviewed on local radio talk shows on topics pertaining to acupuncture, Chinese medicine and Taiji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan).

Iva is Singaporean-Chinese and speaks fluent English and multiple Chinese dialects.
